Environmentally harmful:
3d printing uses a large amount of energy and another setback
would be the heavy reliance of the plastic during the process. This is
considered as a drawback because it violates CSR, Corporate social
responsibility. A business manager will have to take into account the effect on
the brand equity as having environmentally harmful production methods will
lower the brand equity of the company.

Early development stage:
Since 3D-printing is at its early stage of development,
there are significant limitations, right now 3D printing are limited to plastic
and some metals. 3D printing is difficult to intergrate into a company’s business
process. Most company like apple and nike for example, they have to give up the
well-established business process and start fresh. Which requires a lot of
investment and strategic and managerial decision making.
